A situation the other day, that on the surface appeared to be a play of power, in reflection is more this human need for control. Of what is the question that voices below the surface of the action, and with that, a desire to understand what was truly taking place.
When we seek control, something we all do, what is at its end? What are our motives? What would gaining power, control, mitigate? A sense of respect? A gain of authority? A validation we know what is best? What does the acknowledgement of these motives achieve, and holding control, sustain?
Our want of control in our living, brings meaning to a perplexing verse of the Tao.
The Tao also shares the following:
To win a battle, have an unknown plan
To gain the universe, have no plan at all
Today as you go about doing and interacting, be aware of your desire to control. For this next 24 hours simply let go of your need to sustain control and see if, just maybe, you gain the potential of the universe and what is your true power.
